10CC and GODLEY & CREME - Changing Faces: The Best Of (1987)
Godley & Creme were an English rock duo composed of Kevin Godley and Lol Creme. The pair began releasing albums as a duo after splitting from the pop band 10cc. In 1979 they directed their first music video for their own single "An Englishman in New York". After this, they became involved in directing videos for such artists as Ultravox, The Police, Duran Duran, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Wang Chung, as well as directing the ground-breaking promo for their own "Cry" in 1985. The duo split at the end of the 1980s and have both been involved in music videos, TV commercials, and sporadic music projects since.
This album demonstrates 10cc's ability to play any style at all. Songs are often pastiches or gently poke fun (Particularly at the music industry). The quality of the mucianship is extremely high. Technically practically perfect! Wall Street Shuffle is an absolute classic, along with I'm Not In Love of course. This compilation of greatest hits does not fully reflect 10cc's all round ability. Their singles were not always their best work. Occasionally perhaps the silliness of the lyrics can go a bit overboard but if if you want an album that's different and will make you smile this is it.
