Sherman Robertson was born in Louisiana and raised in Houston (USA). He quickly earned a local reputation as a guitarist, and while still in high school he was recruited to play in the group “Connie’s Combo”. As a teenager in the late 60’s, he played on the road with Bobby “Blue” Band, and also backed Junior Parker. That gave Sherman the incentive to form his own band, “Sherman Robertson and the Crosstown Blues Band”, with whom he recorded two albums. During the 70’s, Clifton Chenier, th “King of Zydeco”, asked him to do some dates with his band, which turned into five years touring Europe and U.S. The word on Robertson's talent began to spread. Paul Simon needed a guitar player to add some sounds to his Graceland album and he chose Robertson. Soon after, British producer Mike Vernon signed Robertson to Atlantic Records. Robertson's first solo recording, “I'm The Man”, was nominated for a W.C. Handy Award. His second album, “Here And Now”, was released in 1996 to more critical acclaim. In 1998, producer Joe Harley assembled a first class band for a project for the AudioQuest label, including two members of Little Feat, Bill Payne and Richie Hayward. That resorted in the album, “Going Back Home”. “Guitar Man-Live” is his last and long awaited CD, recorded live in 2005 by Sherman Robertson and Blues Move.
